Course Details & Benefits:

The Rental Facility Package includes:

  • Application submission to the state to become an approved short-term rental entity (if not already approved). This enables the store to rent compact hoisting machinery with short-term rental permits.
  • Renewal submission to the state to maintain approved status as a short-term rental entity (required every two years)
  • Notification to the state regarding any changes or updates to your short-term rental entity (for example, if you add new equipment to your rental fleet or add a new instructor)
  • Application submission to the state to become an approved in-service training program (if not already approved). This program enables the rental store to take advantage of a state exemption granting same-day hoisting licenses to employees who operate equipment solely on company property.
  • Renewal submission to the state to maintain approved status as a in-service training program (required every two years)
  • Notification to the state regarding any changes or updates to your in-service training program (for example, if you add a new instructor or add new equipment)
  • Exam Prep courses and application submission for any employees who are required to obtain a Massachusetts hoisting license as part of their role as supervisor, instructor, or facilitator.
  • Continuing Education courses and renewal submission for any employees who already hold a Massachusetts hoisting license as part of their role as supervisor, instructor, or facilitator.
  • In-Service Training courses for as many employees as needed. Successful completion of the online course grants the employee a legal license to operate hoisting machinery on company property.
  • Rental customers can complete the state-required training online with At Leisure, granting them a short-term rental permit to operate compact hoisting machinery and limiting the amount of time your employees need to spend with the customer.
  • Access to your My Rentals dashboard where you can easily download your customers’ short-term rental permits.

Before registering for a Rental Facility Package, you should make sure your company meets all requirements for the In-Service Training Program exemption. To utilize an In-Service Training Program, there are two simple requirements:

  1. There must be an employee with a “real” Massachusetts hoisting license of equal or greater grade on site at all times of operation.
  2. In-Service Licensees may only operate on company property

“Company property” is defined as property which is owned or under the care and control of a tenant company under a lease or rental agreement. No operation should occur on any public or private way, excluding company property.

An In-Service license is only valid with the company who administered the training.  So once an individual is no longer employed by your company, the In-Service license is no longer valid.

There are no other requirements for enrolling in At Leisure’s Rental Facility Package. This program is affiliated with the American Rental Association of Massachusetts (ARAM). If you’re not already registered with ARAM, you may need to pay a small additional fee to them in order to enroll in this program.

We offer In-Service Training courses in both English and Spanish. Our Exam Prep and Continuing Education courses are only available in English.

Short-Term permits are a requirement when renting hoisting equipment to an unlicensed individual. In this case, equipment is limited to mini-excavators, backhoes and skid-steers under 8,000 lbs.

The rental entity must ensure that the operator receives training before issuing a short-term rental permit. Rather than write your own curriculum and have your staff conduct one-on-one training with each customer, you can have your customers utilize At Leisure’s online training.

Short-term rental customers can complete their training online with At Leisure prior to their rental, reducing the amount of time your staff needs to spend with each customer. Once a customer completes their online training, you are instantly able to access his or her short-term rental permit from the easy-to-use My Rentals dashboard.

Access your account 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from any device that has an internet connection.

Anyone with a MA hoisting license is required to have a valid DOT medical card. At Leisure has partnered with several providers across the state to offer discounted DOT medical exams for just $85. These physicals typically cost between $109-140 in Massachusetts. To register, anyone enrolled in a MA Hoisting Continuing Ed. or Exam Prep course can click on their "My Perks" tab to access our convenient online scheduler.

Note: In-Service licensees are NOT required to have a DOT medical card.

When issuing a customer's short-term rental permit, you will be able to select between a paper certificate which you print using your printer, or an electronic certificate, which generates a PDF of the customer's permit.

Our curriculum has already been approved by the state, which means faster turn-around time to get your company up and going. You can enter all the necessary information electronically through our state-of-the-art system.

Our entire website was built to be user-friendly, and this program is no different. Our custom-built platform will walk you through each step of the way. Still, if you decide you'd like some assistance, we offer customer support 7 days a week.

If you have any questions, our friendly customer support team is available 7 days a week (and most evenings until 9:00 p.m.). Visit our contact page to see our hours or to reach out.
