Qualifications

  • Must be able to perform physical labor, able to perform repetitive movement, bending or twisting, has the ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., willing to listen and learn on the job site, and maintain awareness of surroundings and personnel
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License and Hoisting License (2A) with three to five years of operating experience in the construction industry to apply as a Heavy Equipment Operator (e.g. excavators, backhoes, loaders, dozers, etc.)
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must have a minimum OSHA certification of 10 hours
  • Good communication skills required; must be able to follow verbal instructions; good interpersonal and organizational skills mandatory
  • Must be able to perform strenuous work in varying weather conditions
  • High school or equivalent (Required)
  • Heavy Equipment Operator: 4 years (Required)
  • Construction: 6 years (Required)
  • Driver's License (Required)
  • 2A Hoisting License (Required)
  • OSHA 10 Certification (Required)

Responsibilities

  • The Experienced Heavy Equipment Operator will work in conjunction with the Project Supervisors and the Owner to perform site excavation and flatwork projects
  • The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and technically proficient operation of the equipment assigned
  • The Heavy Equipment Operator is required to efficiently perform the following day-to-day tasks:
  • Must understand and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures
  • Know where all utilities within the work zone are located
  • Be responsible for your own safety as well as those working in the area
  • Willingness to acquire the certifications necessary to perform the tasks applicable to an Operator (e.g. 10 Hour OSHA Certification)
  • Perform daily maintenance of machines
  • Perform daily inspections on machinery and equipment and complete inspection logs
  • Clean the machines regularly
  • This includes sweeping the cabs and removing trash daily, cleaning the interior weekly, and lubricating doors and windows bi-weekly
  • Inform your Project Supervisor daily of your equipment fuel status so the fuel truck can be scheduled if needed for the next morning
  • Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards
  • Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans or specifications
  • Make a note on your equipment inspection logs and inform your Project Supervisor if you need any supplies, e.g. grease, oil, rags, cleaning supplies, etc
  • Travel from home to and from the jobsites is unpaid and required
  • Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned, at any time, with or without notice
