Qualifications

  • High School Degree or Equivalent
  • Minimum one year of professional experience in the operation and maintenance of a water or wastewater treatment facility
  • Possess and maintain, as a minimum, a valid Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator’s License issued by the state of Massachusetts
  • Be able to obtain a Massachusetts Grade 4M WWTP Operators license within 12 months
  • Proficiency with computers, including an ability to work with: SCADA, Microsoft Word, Excel, Maintenance Management Programs, and other site-specific systems
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move 40 lbs
  • Ability to become confined space entry certified and participate in confined space entry jobs including ascending and descending ladders
  • Ability to make sound decisions in process control and follow instructions, as well as following safety procedures
  • Valid MA driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, pre-placement physical and drug screen before employment

Responsibilities

  • As an Operator, you will participate in the daily operation and general maintenance of equipment, structures, and grounds at the Linden Ponds sequencing batch reactor WWTF and wastewater collection system in a safe and timely manner
  • Performs duties as lab analyst to document discharge permit required sampling requirements and verify process performance
  • Operates wastewater processing equipment including, but not limited to, pumps, blowers, gravity belt sludge thickener, odor control system, and ultraviolet disinfection
  • Monitor and document operating conditions through sample collection and analysis
  • Perform designated rounds of the treatment facility and pump stations to ensure that equipment is operating properly
  • Take meter readings, perform laboratory analysis, make process adjustments, and follow Standard Operating Procedures as directed by the Plant Manager
  • Must demonstrate solid mathematical skills, mechanical and technical aptitude, and basic ability with computer programs and systems
  • Perform maintenance including preventive maintenance, lubrication, and equipment adjustments and perform basic troubleshooting of equipment, recommend solutions, and utilize computer-based maintenance management program
  • Perform cleanup and housekeeping tasks for work area, tools, equipment, facilities, and grounds
  • Typically, one weekend per month is worked but you may be required to work more
  • It also requires the ability to participate in an off-hours standby response rotation and respond to emergency callouts that may occur at the facility or pump stations
