Qualifications •Assesses the feasibility and soundness of proposed planning products •Thorough knowledge of multimodal transportation planning, alternatives, transportation masterplan, and traffic engineering •Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Engineering or related discipline •with a minimum of ten (10) years professional experience in traffic engineering and/or transportation planning •Must possess registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Florida or have the ability to obtain licensure within six months of the date of hiring and maintain registration throughout term of employment •A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications •Must possess and maintain a valid Florida drivers’ license •Extensive knowledge of the principles and practice of engineering and transportation planning •Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with subordinates, supervisors, and the public •Familiarity with preparing and reviewing benefit cost studies and before and after studies for operational efficiencies
Responsibilities •Maintains and coordinates efforts with transportation agencies and provides representation at various meetings on behalf of the County •*Salary will be determined depending on qualifications of candidates who exceed the minimum requirements as outlined within the job description •Manages the county’s transportation planning studies on the county’s multimodal transportation facilities •Assume lead role in the review and approvals of Traffic Impact Analysis and their effect on county infrastructures •Participate in the selection and management of transportation/traffic and planning consultants •Understand basic outputs from Synchro, GIS, HCS and other similar traffic engineering programs •Effective communication skills to prepare reports and presentations •Participates in selection of planning and engineering consultants; manages financial oversight of invoices and their approvals •Tracks scheduled progress on transportation planning projects •Attendance of public meetings during and after work hours as the County representative may be required •Assists in the preparation of BCC agenda items and provides technical support for presentations at BCC meetings •Coordinate with other County departments and divisions; develop rapport with state permitting agencies along with other professional organizations •Responsible for maintaining and applying periodic updates to the County Transportation Master Plan and Mobility Plan •Coordinates with consultants, engineers and technicians and other relevant organizations •Performs other related duties based on the requirements of the organization •Performs other duties as assigned or as may be necessary
