MA Plumbing license renewals are due in just over a month, so now is the time to make sure you're ready. You can use our checklist as a handy guide to ensure you're on the right track.
1. Locate your renewal form.
In order to renew your license, you'll need to know your Record ID and your Authorization Code. The easiest place to find this information is on the renewal form that was sent to you by the state (probably sometime in early February).
If you can't find your renewal form, don't worry. Your Record ID is the same as your License Number, so you should already have that. You can look up your Authorization Code on the Division of Occupational Licensure page here. If you go this route, be prepared to enter your:
- Record ID / License Number
- Last 4 digits of your SSN or FEIN, and
- License Serial Number
You'll want to make sure you have your Record ID and Authorization Code ready well in advance so you don't have any last minute delays when you're trying to renew. That's why we have this listed as #1.
2. Take your MA plumbing continuing education.
When you go to submit your renewal, you'll need to submit proof that you completed the 12 hours of required sessions for that renewal cycle. For 2024 renewals, the requirement is Session 15 and Session 16. If you never completed some of the sessions prior to Session 15, it's possible you may need to take additional continuing education sessions to "catch up." If you're unsure specifically what your requirements are, contact the Board. At Leisure offers sessions as far back as Session 9.
To register for your plumber continuing education, visit At Leisure's convenient Plumbing course builder that lets you easily check off the sessions you need and get started on your coursework right away. You'll love our brand new video-based format for Session 16!
3. Register for the ePLACE portal.
All MA Plumbing license renewals now take place online via the ePlace portal.
You'll want to make sure you are able to access the ePLACE portal early on in the game, so you don't have any last minute issues when you try to renew.
Click here to access the ePLACE portal. If you've used it before, you can log in with your existing username and password. If you need to create a new account, follow these detailed instructions.
Once you've successfully logged into your ePLACE account, you'll need to link your license to your account using the Record ID and Authorization Code we talked about in #1 above. Click here for instructions on how to do this.
4. Renew online.
Once you've completed your continuing education and linked your license to your ePLACE account, you're ready to renew!
While logged into your ePLACE account, you should see your license listed on the “Manage Licenses, Permits, and Certificates” page. In the right column labeled “Action”, you will see a link for “Renew”. Click that link to begin your online renewal process!
You will need to pay the appropriate renewal fee associated with your license. For a list of fees, click here.
