Qualifications

  • Knowledge of construction best practices and building codes
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Physically able to handle job-site demands
  • Valid Massachusetts Construction Supervisor’s License
  • Habitat for Humanity Competent Person Safety training, within 30 days of hire
  • Patience and tact to coordinate subs and volunteers working in an occupied home
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record
  • Organizational, recordkeeping, and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

Responsibilities

  • Your skills can build a ramp to help a low-income homeowner stay safely at home; replace the rotted windows on an elderly person's home, or replace the bathroom in a disabled veteran's home
  • Conduct initial inspection of proposed project, provide detailed scope of work and accurate bids for projects
  • Perform quality carpentry: framing, cabinetry, trim, doors, flooring, stairs, decks, and finishes
  • Supervise small number of volunteers on construction-related tasks
  • Manage subcontractors for plumbing & heating, electrical, roofing, etc
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, and project specs
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with other staff, volunteers, and Habitat homeowners
  • Maintain organization of tools and materials on site and at storage facilities
  • Supervise daily site set-up and clean-up
  • Maintain a positive relationship with local municipal departments as well as other state and federal level agencies, vendors, organizations, and corporations that partner with Habitat for Humanity
  • Order, pick-up and deliver building supplies as needed
  • Other tasks as assigned or as needed for the overall success of the organization
