Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Lead the crew to complete daily tasks related to the installation and repair of natural gas pipelines
  • The position is in charge of ensuring crew safety and productivity, installing and pressure testing both mainline and service line gas pipe, as well as completing routine safety inspections and documentation
  • This position oversees the crew and works with customers, management, inspectors and personnel from other departments
  • Possess a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence
  • Oversee and coordinate daily tasks to crew members working to install natural gas mains and services
  • Read and interpret documents such as construction prints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Facilitate daily safety briefs related to the job tasks being performed daily and ensure crew safety while preforming tasks in the field
  • Train new hires and trainees to learn the trade in accordance with company safety procedures and standards
  • Complete all paperwork in timely manner
  • Track employees’ hours on crew and submit weekly
  • Ensure existing utilities are properly identified and exposed, to ensure piping is correctly installed and fused, job meets customer specifications, and it meets company quality standards
  • Keep job(s) moving on time, clean up, and preform restoration at end of job
  • Ability to interact with public, supervisors, and coworkers professionally at all times
  • Laborers are assigned to a crew to install or replace natural gas pipelines underground
  • Laborers perform tasks involving physical labor at underground utility construction and maintenance projects
  • Laborers will work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment working around heavy equipment
  • The Laborer reports directly to the crew Foreman daily
  • Possess a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence
  • Ability to interact with public, supervisors, and coworkers professionally at all times
  • Assist as required in all manual labor aspects of the project as directed by the Foreman, or Supervisor
  • Withstand prolonged and repeated: lifting (including overhead, 50 to 90 lbs.); standing; climbing; kneeling; reaching and feeling; crouching and crawling
  • Keep worksite clean and organized free from unnecessary hazards
  • Preform regular maintenance and cleaning on assigned vehicles and equipment
  • Ability to speak and hear worksite safety instructions
  • Assist crew members in placing underground pipes, manual labor and shovel work and operate power tools
  • Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late when necessary with little or no notice
  • Operators drive, control, and maintain heavy equipment and other necessary machinery in a safe, efficient manner
  • Operators will work in a fast-paced environment
  • Operators report directly to the Crew Foreman daily
  • Excavating trenches and structures, laying pipe, loading/unloading trucks and back-filling trenches
  • Placing & Removing shoring and trench boxes
  • Operate a Backhoe or Mini Excavator with ability to operate various hydraulic attachments (e.g. hammers, pipe vacuum)
  • Performs daily inspection on equipment for issues and/or deficiencies
  • May assist the crew, when needed, in operating other equipment and/or helping the laborers on the ground
  • Ability to transport equipment if necessary (i.e. mini excavator w/ trailer)
  • Truck drivers support construction operations by loading, transporting, and unloading equipment, and material
  • Operate a variety of vehicles once certified
  • Load and unload equipment and materials
  • Haul material to and from jobsites
  • Daily pre-shift vehicle and equipment inspections; maintain daily log
  • Preform regular maintenance/cleaning on assigned vehicles and equipment
  • Labor on crews when needed
  • Other duties as requested by management
  • Maintain satisfactory safety record
  • Perform all duties in compliance to safety and company standards
  • Provide own work boots and prescription safety glasses (as needed)
  • Wear appropriate personal protective and safety equipment supplied by the company
