Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Three years in sewer construction and maintenance or any equivalent combination of education and experience
- Grade 5 Massachusetts Wastewater Treatment Operators License
- CDL B, and Massachusetts Hydraulics (2B) License or the ability to obtain within the first 6 months of employment
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation is advantageous
- Basic math skills for calculations related to water treatment processes
- Ability to analyze data and make decisions based on findings

Responsibilities
- The Wastewater Operator plays a critical role in ensuring the effective treatment and management of wastewater
- This position involves monitoring and maintaining wastewater treatment processes, operating heavy equipment, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations
- The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and the ability to analyze data to optimize treatment operations
- Operate and monitor wastewater treatment facilities, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
- Analyze water quality samples and interpret data to make informed decisions regarding treatment processes
- Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently as required for maintenance and repair tasks
- Utilize distributed control systems to monitor system performance and make adjustments as necessary
- Perform basic math calculations to assist in chemical dosing and other operational tasks
- Conduct routine inspections of facilities and equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety protocols are followed
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions effectively
- Assist in operation, maintenance, and construction of Town's sewer collection system
- Assists and participates with general snow removal
- Assists the Division Foreman in any other work or activity required to insure proper and efficient operation of the division
