Primary Responsibilities:

• Builds electrical harnesses and battery cables

• Builds and installs electrical panels

• Wires and installs engines, generators, HVAC systems, audio/video systems

• Installs and wires electronics, GPS antennas, radars, satellite tv antennas and receivers

• Runs wires throughout the boat

• Works with low and high voltages, inverters and converters

• Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues using a variety of testing devices

• Communicates challenges, innovations, delays, and/or needs that may impact project schedule or project quality to the team leader in a timely fashion

• Repairs or replaces wiring, equipment, or fixtures using hand tools and power tools

• Prepares written materials (e.g. repair status, activity logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and/or conveying information

• Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of items required to complete the necessary installation and/or repair

• Keeps informed of new developments within the department

• Reads blueprints or technical diagrams

• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies

 

Other Responsibilities:

• Delivers and maintains a maximum level of department service and satisfaction

• Contributes to company-wide communication and best practices

• Performs any other job-related duties as assigned

 

Position Requirements:

• High school or equivalent degree required. An apprenticeship, vocational/trade program, or schooling in electrical systems preferred

• Two years of experience in electrical work required

• Ability to read blueprints/technical diagrams of electrical systems, policy and procedure manuals, maintenance instructions and other related documents

• Experience using hand and power tools, including wire strippers, drills, saws

• Experience using electrical tools including ammeters, voltmeters, and cable testers

• Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations

• Demonstrated ability to balances multiple priorities and meet deadlines, often in high-pressure situations

• Effective communicates in team settings

• Strong organizational and time management skills

 

Physical Demands/Conditions:

• Regularly required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to finger, handle and feel objects

• Regularly required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, stretch, kneel, crouch or crawl

• Regular lifting and maneuvering of large objects (70lbs)

• Regularly required to talk and hear

• The noise level in the work environment is typically loud

• Must be available to work between the hours of 6:00 am and 2:30 pm with a half hour break

• Indoor/outdoor environment

• Required to work in elevated places on ladders, lifts, catwalks and staging inside and outside of the building

• Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) due to occupational risks of exposure to non-toxic and toxic chemicals used in construction of boats

• Cordless Drill (12V minimum recommended)

• Utility Knife (BB will provide blades)

• Wire Cutter

• Butane Torch

• Adjustable Wrench

• Socket Set (11/16-9/16-1/2)
