Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Three years in sewer construction and maintenance or any equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Grade 5 Massachusetts Wastewater Treatment Operators License
  • CDL B, and Massachusetts Hydraulics (2B) License or the ability to obtain within the first 6 months of employment
  • Familiarity with heavy equipment operation is advantageous
  • Basic math skills for calculations related to water treatment processes
  • Ability to analyze data and make decisions based on findings

Responsibilities

  • The Wastewater Operator plays a critical role in ensuring the effective treatment and management of wastewater
  • This position involves monitoring and maintaining wastewater treatment processes, operating heavy equipment, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations
  • The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and the ability to analyze data to optimize treatment operations
  • Operate and monitor wastewater treatment facilities, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
  • Analyze water quality samples and interpret data to make informed decisions regarding treatment processes
  • Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently as required for maintenance and repair tasks
  • Utilize distributed control systems to monitor system performance and make adjustments as necessary
  • Perform basic math calculations to assist in chemical dosing and other operational tasks
  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities and equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety protocols are followed
  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions effectively
  • Assist in operation, maintenance, and construction of Town's sewer collection system
  • Assists and participates with general snow removal
  • Assists the Division Foreman in any other work or activity required to insure proper and efficient operation of the division
