Qualifications

•Licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as an journeyman or a master electrician required

•Must be able to read, write and perform arithmetic calculations at a level generally acquired through a high school education

•Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively and to cooperate with staff throughout the hospital

•Must be able to clearly explain electrical issues to other personnel

•Requires physical ability to lift over 30 lbs

•May be required to work within a containment and/or the containment booth

•May be required to work with a respirator

 

 

Responsibilities

•Under general supervision of the Electrical Supervisor, is responsible for installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing electrical systems and equipment

•Typically works on more complex problems and systems

•Installs and maintains circuits for heat, power, lights, motors, signals, and alarm systems

•Conducts required inspection and testing of motor, signal and alarm systems, receptacles, emergency generators, electrical lighting systems and special grounding

•Performs preventative and/or predictive maintenance on electrical equipment

•Repairs electrical systems including circuits, equipment, and wiring in accordance with professional standards

•Maintains appropriate records of testing and/or assigned duties, meeting documentation standards

•Responds to all emergency situations as required

•Ensures compliance with appropriate electrical codes

•Communicates with other employees and management on necessary information regarding electrical systems

•Participates in department and team planning and provides input in developing solutions to advance priorities

•Participates in educational programs to meet performance expectations

•Attends and actively participates in department, team, and one on one meetings with supervisor

•Provides updates in shift huddles with team members to ensure continuity of services across shifts

•Maintains a safe and clean work environment in areas where work is performed and in Engineering department

•Closes work order in Maximo to maintain an accurate record of services provided

•Completes work in accordance with regulatory and accreditation standards

•Supports team members to problem solve and complete work orders to meet customer needs

•Upholds BWH values and customer service standards in all interactions within and outside of the Engineering Department

•May be required to carry the on-call pager

•May be required to work weekends or rotating shifts

•Performs other duties as assigned

•Analytical skills to evaluate wiring systems and develop appropriate solutions to electrical problems

•May occasionally (less than 20% of the time) get involved in a dirty or hazardous environment in the performance of duties
