Qualifications

•High School Equivalency and one to three (1 - 3) years experience operating equipment and trucks in construction and maintenance work

•Knowledge of procedures used to operate and maintain heavy equipment; occupational hazards and safety precautions

•Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with staff and management; execute verbal and written instructions; able to prioritize and complete multiple tasks at the same time with frequent interruptions; utilize email software and a smartphone

•Skilled in the operation and maintenance of heavy motorized equipment including operating equipment over rough and unstable terrain; use of power-driven hand tools

•Must be able to operate heavy motor equipment as required such as backhoe, front end loader, street sweeper, sanders and plow, in accordance with department safety procedures

•Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B

•Hoisting Engineer License, Class 2B or greater

•High school or equivalent (Required)

 

Responsibilities

•40 hour work week: M - F, 6:30 am – 2:30 pm, overtime required

•Responds to emergencies during and after normal business hours

•This position works under the supervision of the Highway Manager and operates a variety of motor driven vehicles and equipment including trucks with a rated capacity of more than 26,001 lbs. G.V.W. (Gross Vehicle Weight), tractors, road sweepers, etc. in the provision of public works services; performs all other related work as required

•Salary: Expected hiring range of $20.40 to $27.16, depending on qualifications
