Qualifications
- Must possess a CDL Class B License
- Must possess a Hoisting License 1B, 2A, 4E and 4G
- Applicants without the necessary CDL and Hoisting Licenses may be considered under certain conditions
- Must have the ability to operate trucks with a rated capacity of more than three tons up to nine tons
- Ability to operate hoisting equipment such as backhoes, front-end loaders and catch basin machines, 125 CFM compressors, sidewalk rollers, highway sanders and similar equipment used in Public Works construction and maintenance
Benefits
- Pay range within Group 86 of the DPW contract starts at $29.78 / hr, providing annual salary increases to a maximum rate of $42

Responsibilities
- Assist in a variety of public works projects such as maintaining and repairing streets; install, clean and repair culverts, catch basins and drainage lines;
- sweep streets and sidewalks; repair guardrails and signs
- Operate specialized and heavy equipment such as dump trucks, front-end loaders, backhoes, rollers, basin cleaners and street sweepers;
- perform manual labor incidental to the work of operating assigned equipment; service and maintain equipment
- Operate snow removal and sanding vehicles; assist in emergency highway and other public works repairs
- Perform laborer’s duties when not assigned to equipment operation
- Operate hand tools, mowers, jack hammers, air compressors, clippers, cutting tools and related equipment
- Load and unload trucks; pick-up and haul materials
- Subject to emergency recall
- Full time union position, 40 hours per week, within the Department of Public Works bargaining unit
