Qualifications
•Considerable knowledge of the mechanics of the varied equipment involved
•Demonstrated skill in operations equipment unit or units to which assigned
•MANDATORY LICENSES: Possession of required licenses listed below
•CDL class B minimum
•Hoisting class 2A
•Specialty 4 designation or ability to obtain one within 90 days
•Inclusion in random drug pool

•Ability to pass a CORI/SORI background check?
•Ability to pass a pre-employment physical drug screen and be placed in the random drug pool?

Responsibilities
•DEFINITION: Manual work involving specialized skill in operations of equipment of consideration weight and complexity designed for public works activities; related as required
•DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: Works under general supervision
•May exercise limited supervision over maintenance men and labors on an assigned project
•Makes limited contacts with other than immediate associates
•Performs other craftsman level work, operates vehicles or other public works type equipment
•Work requires independent judgement and skilled operation of assigned equipment to avoid damage to public or private property or to avoid endangering public safety
•Errors could result in damage to expensive equipment or could result in faulty construction of maintenance operations
•Work requires constant and substantial physical effort
•Overtime required in emergency situation as determined as determined by Director and / or designee
•EXAMPLES OF WORK: Operates front -end loader which may have backhoe attachments, motorized sweeper, bull dozer, roller, snow loader, catch basin cleaner operated by hydraulic hoist, sewer cleaning machine or other equipment of similar weight and complexity in any of the wide variety of operations characteristics of Public Works operation
•May operate intermittently the type of equipment normally assigned to the Special Heavy Motor Equipment Operators classification
•May service and follow prescribed maintenance procedures with respect, to assigned equipment units
•Performs labor incidental to the work of operating assigned equipment, or any other labor task or work of Maintenance Man or Motor Equipment Operator
