Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will be a team player with skill in operating heavy equipment and the ability to interact with the public respectfully and tactfully
- Associate’s degree or a journeyman’s level of knowledge with a minimum of three years related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Class A CDL driver’s license and class 1C and 2B hoisting licenses required
- Those with a class B CDL with the ability to obtain a class A in the first six months of employment are welcome to apply

- Position is covered under the Service Employees International Union with a pay range of $33.39 - $41.06 per hour with starting pay dependent on qualifications and experience

Responsibilities
- This position performs a variety of technical and skilled manual work associated with the maintenance and operation of the Brewster Recycling Center
- The Equipment Operator will use Department of Public Works vehicles, property, and specialized heavy equipment to complete procedural and maintenance activities at the Recycling Center
- Monitors incoming waste and recycling items, assesses items for disposability and directs customers to the appropriate locations within the facility
- Operates compactors and heavy equipment to load waste and recycling into roll-off containers
- Operate commercial vehicles to move refuse containers and to transport waste and recycling to various facilities
- Participates in Public works snow and ice operations
- Position is subject to occasional mandatory overtime
