Qualifications

•A criminal background check will be completed on the recommended candidate as required by the regulations set forth by the Executive Office of Health and Human Services prior to the candidate being hired

•Applicant must have at least one year of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience as a licensed journeyman or master electrician

•Special Requirements: Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Journeyman or Master Electrician's License issued by the State Examiners of Electricians.*

•NOTE: License requirement regarding the Department of Public Works: Neither general street lighting nor traffic light work performed by the Department of Public Works or its agents or employees on public ways is subject to the licensing requirements of M.G.L. Chap. 141

•1976 - 1977 Op AG, No. 26

•Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's License

 

Responsibilities

•The selected candidate will establish priorities and makes work assignments; studies production schedules and estimates man hour and cost requirements; plans wiring and equipment installation to conform with blueprints, schematic drawings and sketches; supervises, coordinates and may participate in the installation and repair of electrical wiring systems, electrical fixtures, equipment, apparatus control equipment, except for elevator control equipment, recommends measures to effect improvements; provides on the job training, performs related work as required

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (These duties are a general summary and not all inclusive.)

•Establishes priorities and makes work assignments; studies production schedules and estimates man hour requirements for completion of job assignments; establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules through knowledge of machine and equipment capacity; males cost estimates, requisitions supply and inspects stock and materials used

•Plans wiring and installation of equipment and fixtures such as motors, generators, switches, transformers, switchboards and fuse boxes according to blueprints, schematic drawings and sketches

•Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product, suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency

•Provides progressively responsible on the job training, when required, and keeps aware of the progress made by each employees’ performance, for consideration in future assignments; analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists employees in solving work problems as part of the training process

•Maintains time and production records and an inventory of the stock and materials on hand
